Website Revitalization

I wanted to let everyone know that we officially updated our website this afternoon while the Washington Redskins lost to the Dallas Cowboys. Bobby Leach (our IT consultant) and I spent 4 hours updating images, adding content, and enhancing the overall website experience for our clients. It is hard to believe that our "new" website was launched almost 3 years ago (May 2007). Although I continue to update the site on a regular basis, it has been a while since we did a major overhaul.

You will notice that we have added new testimonials that we received over the last few months. We have also included links to the following: Facebook, Yelp, and Merchant Circle. However, the biggest change was the "Contact Us" page. We added the group picture from the November/December issue of Bethesda Magazine, and redesigned the entire layout of the page to make it easier for clients to find our contact information.

Today, we also started to integrate our website with the Google webmaster tools. We are hoping that this will boost are search engine listings/rankings.

Overall, we are trying to enhance our Internet presence. We will continue to update and monitor our website statistics using Google Analytics. Please give me a call or send me an email if you have any suggestions for how to improve our website.

Website Update

Our website was updated again today, February 25, 2009. It has been several weeks since the last update due to the transfer of our domain hosting to GoDaddy.

Additionally, we transferred our internet hosting to Verizon. Previously we were with Covad, but they were California based, which made it difficult to troubleshoot.

Lastly, we purchased a brand new Dell server for the office. The new server is much more powerful, and it should make us much more efficient.

We are looking forward to putting all of these upgrades to good use in the future.

Family Business

My family and I are co-workers. My name is Ryan Grant, and I am the grandson of the founder - Mr. Charles R. Grant. My grandfather started his business in Washington, DC, in 1953. Today, we are a third-generation independent insurance agency that has been specializing in personal and commercial insurance for over 50 years.

I currently work with my dad (C. Ridgely Grant), my mom (Linda Grant), my sister (Ashley Grant), and my uncle (Granny Grant) on a daily basis. Additionally, we have another employee, Judi Godbey, who may not be a blood relative, but she is essentially a part of our family since she has worked with us for over 20 years.

Over the years, I have seen many family-operated businesses open and close. It seems as though the WalMarts, Home Depots, and Targets, are taking over in
today's big business world. However, we have found that some things are still done better the old fashioned way.

We believe that our customers should not have to press 0 to reach customer service or press 1 if they would like to hear an infinite amount of options in either English or Spanish. If you call us, then you can speak to us directly---plain, and simple. It is almost too simple, but our responsiveness and attention to detail have become our competitive advantage.
